The app is a client to view and mange your Watchlist and get push notifications. Note that Distill doesn't check the webpages on your phone, so it doesn't affect your phone's battery. The Watchlist and history view lets you view the changes with great detail. The iOS app lets you get push notifications from local and cloud monitors instantly. Whenever there is a change, Distill will notify you of the change. Distill checks webpages in cloud using servers or locally on your computer using browser extensions.
